Who We Are
The Astrophile is a digital pub run by astrologers Amanda Moreno, Amanda Painter, and Jana Barrett. As a devotees of the stars and the soul, they weave together astrology, divination, embodied experience and revolutionary awareness to bring you thoughtful, grounded insights on the stars (and more).
The core goals of this collaboration include sharing writing that explores what it is like to use the language of astrology to bring the stars down to Earth. The perspectives you will read here are based in astro-takes that are:
Rooted: in the body and lived experience because we know that astrology is most powerful when it supports our ability to be present;
Expansive: because we want to encourage participation with the intersections of fate and free will;
Relational: because at its core astrology promotes a view of a world that is alive with soul and spirit and is most powerful when it supports our awareness of interconnectedness.

Amanda Moreno [Aquarius Sun | Scorpio Moon | Leo Rising]
Amanda is an astrologer, soul worker, writer and educator based in Seattle, WA. She is an anarchistic(ally) non-monogamous witch who prefers to avoid labels but admits to being an introvert. Amanda obtained her Master’s degree in Depth Psychology with a focus on how astrological ritual can help folks transition through personal and collective apocalypse – otherwise known as rites of passage. Throughout her 15 years of working with clients and students, she has remained passionate about helping folks understand ways embodied, revelatory, socially conscious astrology can help us navigate the cascades of collective shifts we are living through. Amanda’s deepest honor in life is helping folks connect with their soul stories with heaping doses of compassion and reverence. Her approach to writing about astrology is deeply influenced by animism, witchcraft, pleasure, collective liberation, her love of music and her blissfully/problematically flow-oriented Mercury in Pisces.

Amanda Painter [Taurus Sun | Sagittarius Moon | Cancer Rising]
Amanda is an astrologer, soul worker, writer, editor, and actor with degrees in literature and theater, and lives in Maine. She deepened her astrology education by writing for her former mentor's popular astrology website for ten years. This organic exploration has informed her intuitive approach to astrological interpretation while still drawing on traditional techniques. Astrology comes most alive for Amanda when moments of synchronicity in her lived experience highlight themes and patterns that she can synthesize into a sense of useful meaning and awareness for herself and others, often connecting it to wider events.
One of Amanda's greatest joys is to hold space for another's healing, growth, and return to their own center, especially during challenging transitions. She supports clients in discovering greater meaning, perspective, relief, and joy — connecting the present with the past, and opening the way for a more integrated future. Jana Barrett [Taurus Sun | Leo Moon | Taurus Rising]
Jana is a humanistic & evolutionary astrologer, diviner, writer, activist, and witch based in the so-called Pacific Northwest. They offer 1:1 and group services to support people through courageous transformations. A keen depth explorer, Jana acts as a steady guide through Plutonian times, helping folks alchemize shame into power to rediscover their magic and joy. As a certified Somatic Parts Work practitioner, much of their work centers on reconnection — bringing people into compassionate relationship with the parts of themselves they've forgotten or denied.
